The Roots of Resistance

My journey started in the surf of Rincon, Puerto Rico. Growing up in my parents’ restaurant and guest house, I learned the two pillars of my life: the grit of the hospitality industry and the necessity of social justice. My parents were more than just business owners; they were fierce advocates for the environment and equality. Whether I was working my way through school or volunteering with La Liga Ecologica and the Surfrider Foundation, I learned early on that if you love something, you fight to protect it.

The Nerd

I’ve always been a bit of a polymath. I earned my Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering with a minor in Political Science, followed by a Master’s in Molecular Computing. I spent the early part of my career in the world of R&D and network security. While I loved the logic of code, the "9-to-5" desk life didn't feed my soul. I needed movement, people, and to see the world.

The Catalyst

In October 2014, I joined Spirit Airlines. My transition into union advocacy happened exactly on New Year’s Day, 2015. After a scheduler forced me into an 18-hour duty day, a blatant CBA violation, the path ahead became clear. I realized then that a contract is only as strong as the people willing to enforce it. The day I got off probation, Local 76 President Ramona Rios told me she’d been waiting for me. I’ve been all in ever since.

The Climb: Experience from the Ground Up

I am a firm believer that to lead a council, you must first understand every gear that turns it. I have spent the last 11.5 years doing exactly that. My service record spans:

  • ACY/DTW: Scheduling Rep and Communications Rep (where I put my tech degree to use rebuilding our AFA website).

  • FLL: Elected Vice President after serving as interim New Hire Chairperson.

  • MCO: Appointed MEC Vice President, serving a full term of systemic advocacy.

  • Current: Government Affairs and Human Rights & Equity Rep.

I have trained in nearly every facet of our union, from observing Safety training as an officer to Grievance to FADAP and Mobilization, Government Affairs, and lastly Human Rights and Equity. In 2022, as your MECVP, I organized systemwide pickets to combat chronic IROPs. I don’t just study our CBA, I look for ways to use our collective strength, delegate, and strategize to face management and win.

Why Now?

I have never sought to lead a council before now because I believe leadership must be earned through experience. I have spent a decade in the trenches, at the pickets, and in the meeting rooms. I have advocated for Flight Attendants with the same passion I bring to reforestation and protecting our oceans.

I am a servant leader. If you entrust me with your support, I promise to lead this council with the same respect, dignity, and never-back-down spirit that has defined my life from the beaches of Rincon to the jumpseat.

Off the Clock

When I’m not defending our CBA, you’ll find me with a camera in hand, hiking a trail, or in the ocean surfing. I stay busy freelancing in web design and volunteering for non-profits focused on reforestation and providing culinary training to underprivileged communities. For me, whether it’s the environment or our union, it’s all about leaving things better than I found them.

You wouldn’t know it but

I am multilingual, speaking fluent Spanish, English, and French,, and I’ve been studying Italian for the better part of the last 5 years to get closer to my Italian heritage on my dad’s side.

With your vote, I will continue to make improvements, lend you an ear to listen, and be your strongest ally.

In solidarity and unity forever, union strong.
